Clair E. Sloss, 83 of 478 Keely Road died at 10:30 P.M. Thursday March 10, 2011 at his
Born February 22, 1928 in Franklin he was a son of the late Frank and Mary Patterson Sloss.
He attended Rocky Grove High School.
He proudly served in the United States Army during WWII.
Mr. Sloss worked at Joy Manufacturing in many different capacities retiring as an assembler in June 1984. He also spent many years working with the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
Clair enjoyed Fishing, Hunting, Gardening and spending time dancing with his friends.
He married Janet Rugh on August 21, 1948 and she preceded him in death.
Surviving is a son Robert Sloss and his wife Debra of Franklin; two daughters, Mary Sloss ? Biondi of Franklin and Rebecca Sloss ?Matthews and her husband Ronald of Franklin; one brother Raymond Sloss and his wife Mae of Cochranton; two sisters Dorothy Domres of Franklin and Lorraine Slocum and her husband John of Franklin; 11 grandchildren, Robert ?B.J.? Burchfield, Heidi Heath, Heather Fox, Amber Boozell, Aimee Sloss, Alicia Weller, Jason Biondi, Dan Biondi, Tina Phillips, Ronald Matthews Jr. and Rachel Wargo; and 24 great grandchildren.
He is also survived by his special Elaine Rankin.
In addition to his parents and wife, Clair was preceded in death by a daughter Sally Sloss-Burchfield, a brother Donald Sloss, a sister Gladys Miller, a sister in law Virginia Sloss, and two brother in laws Harry Miller and Thomas Domres.
Friends will be received on Saturday from 7-9 P.M. and Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. at the Huff Chapel Inc. 312 West Park St. Franklin.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Monday in the funeral home with the Rev. Earl Dykes, Pastor of Worden Chapel Church and Rev. Sue Evans, Chaplain of Venango County VNA.
Interment will follow at Franklin Cemetery will full military honors rendered by the V.E.T.S Honor Guard.
