Edmond Ramage

November 25, 1949 — December 18, 2015

Edmond Ramage, Jr, a respected local artist, actor, and set designer, died on Friday, December 18 2015 at UPMC Hamot hospital in Erie. He was 66.

Mr Ramage spent time in Kansas, New York, and California, before returning to Venango County and settling in Franklin approximately 15 years ago. A talented painter, his artwork graces the walls of several local restaurants and shops. The murals he painted in the downtown Franklin alleys will be appreciated for years to come.

Ed was also a gifted actor. He played many outstanding roles on the Barrow-Civic Theatre stage and was especially known for his portrayal of Mark Twain.

Ed designed and created many beautiful sets for the Barrow as well as for the Acadamy Theatre and the Oil Region Ballet. He had a vast knowledge of technical theatre and was greatly appreciated by the Barrow and the many people who had the pleasure of working with him.
Ed was extremely intelligent, a true gentleman, a mentor to many, and a generous soul. He was an avid reader, enjoyed classic movies and was a great Pirates fan. He enjoyed socializing with people of all ages.

Ed was born on November 25, 1949 and grew up in Reno. He was the son of the late Ruth DeWoody and Edmond Ramage. He was preceded in death by his brother Samuel Young Ramage..

Surviving are his nephews Andy and Adam, his niece Christine, as well as his theatre and neighborhood family. He was well known and his talents were respected throughout the community. He will be missed and fondly remembered by many.

Suggested memorials are the Barrow-Civic Theatre, P.O. Box 1089, Franklin PA 16323 , the Franklin Public Library, 421 12th St., Franklin PA 16323 or a charity of one's choice.

There will be no visitation. A memorial gathering will be announced at a later date.
