Robert E. Rial Sr., 78, of 407 Liberty Street went to meet his Lord at 6:05 p.m. Monday March 9, 2009 at The Caring Place. A son of James O. and Pearl Kelsey Rial he was born in Franklin on April 4, 1930. He attended the Franklin public schools. For 44 years he was employed at Joy, working as a heat treat operator at the time of his retirement in 1992. He was a member of Machinist Union #1842. Mr. Rial was a member of the Franklin Missionary Alliance Church. He enjoyed playing and coaching softball and baseball and watching his Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a family man who loved work at remodeling, fixing small motors or what his family fondly calls tinkering. On December 10, 1948 he married the former Lola E. Vogus; she survives along with five children Robert E. Rial Jr. and his wife Denise, Pamela E. Patterson and her husband Charles, Bruce A. Rial and Craig L. Rial and his wife Kathy all of Franklin and Judy M. McGinty and her husband Robert of Oil City; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers Donald C. Rial of Burleson, TX and James H. Rial and his wife Mimi of Erie and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by twin granddaughters, three brothers WayneBill� Rial, Ray K. Rial and Jack Rial and two sisters Jeanette Bacher and Ruth Mountain. Friends will be received in the Huff Chapel 312 W. Park St. from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Friday with Pastor Scott A. Woodlee, pastor of the Franklin Christian Missionary Alliance Church officiating. Interment will be made in the Graham Cemetery.
