Betty Jane Barr Harley

Betty Jane Barr Harley, 96, of Rockland, passed away peacefully at 7:50 A.M. Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Oil City Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Rouseville on December 7, 1922 she was a daughter of the late William Banks and Lena Mae Cherry Barr. She was one of eleven children and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Betty lived in numerous locations growing up and attended the Rockland Schools where she was a member of the girls' basketball team.

She was employed as the last switch board operator for Rockland Telephone Company. She worked as a cook for several area businesses including the Oil City YWCA, Valley Lunch in Rouseville, Schencks in Reno and later the Log Cabin Restaurant in Seneca where she retired from in 1982.

Betty and her late husband Earl camping at Kibbies Island in Tionesta for many years. She was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates Fan. She enjoyed following politics and doing seek a word puzzles. She took great pride in watching the wildlife in her yard.

On February 20, 1946 in Franklin she married Robert Earl Harley and he preceded her in death on February 7, 2009. Together they celebrated nearly 63 years of marriage.

Surviving are three children; Garry Harley of GA, Linda Fox and her husband Richard of Rockland and John Harley and his wife Marie of Ashtabula, OH; seven grandchildren, Barbara Jean Olsen DeLong, Michael Scott Olsen, Matthew Todd Olsen, Rita Marie Harley, Pamela Elaine Harley Hasenauer, Beth Harley and David DeWayne Fox; 14 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two children; Betty Olsen and her husband Larry Olsen and Robert Harley and a granddaughter, Sue Ann Fox Krepps and 10 siblings.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff - Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park St. Franklin where family and friends are welcome from 1:00 - 3:00 P.M. Tuesday.

A funeral service will follow at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Johnathon Reisinger, Supply Pastor at Worden United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will be at Rockland Cemetery.
