Charles E. "Charlie" Brock Jr., 99, of Franklin, passed away on October 5, 2025 at The Caring Place.
Son of the late Jane Ray and Charles E. Brock Sr., Charlie was born on June 29, 1926 in Miami, AZ.
After growing up in California, he joined the military and was a proud WWII veteran, serving in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946.
After he was honorably discharged, Charlie worked for General Telephone Company, now Verizon. He retired after working there for 35 years.
In his free time he volunteered with the American Red Cross, where he taught first aid, safety, and artificial respiration. He was involved with many of their projects. Charlie volunteered and taught classes with the US Coast Guard Auxiliary as well.
He was integral in the beginning of the Sandycreek Volunteer Fire Department, serving as their first Fire Chief.
Charlie also served as a Cub Scout leader, a volunteer for Applefest for countless years, and was an active member of the Franklin Alliance Church.
When he wasn’t out volunteering in the community, he enjoyed farming, gardening, fishing, and woodworking.
He was married to the former Helen Elaine Gibbons on November 14, 1946. They shared nearly 80 years together and she survives.
In addition to his wife, Charlie is survived by eight children; Terry Heckman of Polk, David Brock of Stoneboro, Linda Sands of Franklin, Dennis Brock of Franklin, Edward Brock of Titusville, Rodger Brock of Oil City, Rita (Andrew) McAuley of Santa Fe, NM, and Joseph Brock of Seattle, WA.
Additionally surviving are eleven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, parents in-law, son in-law Wayne Heckman, daughter in-law Cindy Brock, daughter in-law Tammy Brock, and daughter Connie Brock.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. 312 W. Park St. Franklin where friends and family will be received from 2:00-4:00 P.M. Friday.
The V.E.T.S. Honor Guard will render Military Honors on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at the Franklin Alliance Church 1200 Otter St., Franklin.
A funeral service will take place immediately following in the church sanctuary with Pastor Jon Martin, officiating.
Interment will take place at Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
