Debra L. Palmer, 61, of Franklin died at 11:34 a.m. Thursday, October 17, 2013 at her home.
A daughter of Wiley E. and Eleanor L. Hunt Thorman she was born in New Castle on March 4, 1952.
She was a 1970 graduate of Shenango High School.
Mrs. Palmer was employed as a receptionist at B.S.I. Financial.
To say Deb was active in the community would be an understatement. She was a member and former officer of the Franklin Elks, a member of the Franklin Moose and the Vets. The Barrow Civic Theatre was a constant in her activities. She had served on their board of directors, acted on the big stage and the Little Theatre, and if not on the stage was backstage working, often as the costumer. Many an organization or cause considered Deb as an angel as she always seemed to be cooking, working or supporting a fundraiser. In her spare time she loved camping and motorcycle riding with her husband and spending time with her grandchildren. She had also served on the nominating committee for the Venango County Republicans.
On January 1, 2011 she married Raymond L. Palmer who survives along with two sons Scot Buffington and his wife Sarah of Beaver and Eric Krepps of Pittsburgh, two grandchildren James and Elizabeth Buffington. Also surviving are a brother Bruce Thorman and his wife Anne of New Castle and a sister Marsha Mazzacco of New Castle.
