Delbert Eugene Smith, 83, of Franklin, passed away at 8:49 A.M. on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Oil City Healthcare and Rehabilitation.

Born in Franklin on May 15, 1942, he was the son of the late Burton and Miriam Ristau Smith.

He was a graduate of Rocky Grove High School.

Del proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He served aboard the USS Ranger - CVA 61.

He worked many years at the former Joy Manufacturing as a Welder and retired from there in 2004.

Del enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing; Above all he loved spending time with his family and following his grandchildren at their various sporting events.

He was a longtime and loyal member of Atlantic Avenue United Brethren Church.

Del married the former Carol Sue Shak and she preceded him in death.

Surviving are three daughters, Michele Mansfield (Mike Hanna), Deena Smith and Melissa Rodemoyer; six grandchildren, Zachariah Beers, Dylan Rodemoyer, Lauren Rodemoyer, Alexis Rodemoyer, Rilee Hanna, and Alexander Holmes, who is following in his grandfather's footsteps and serving in the United States Army; two great-grandchildren, Oakleigh and Adalynn; four siblings, Shirley Stewart, Karen Wright, William Smith, and Christel Monks.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Carol, his son-in-law Michael Rodemoyer, his brother Robert Smith and sister Nancy Bish.

Family and friends welcome from 10:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 23, 2025 at Atlantic Avenue United Brethren Church, 160 Atlantic Ave., Franklin, PA 16323.

A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 A.M. Friday in the church with Pastor Brad Riddle, officiating.

Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery where Del will receive full Military Honors rendered by the V.E.T.S Honor Guard.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 W. Park St. Franklin.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kirtland Cancer Foundation P.O. Box 108 Franklin, PA 16323.
