Diane L. WItherup

Diane L. Witherup, 65, of Franklin, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Erie on May 28, 1958, she was the daughter of the late J. Forest and Martha Marguerite Witherup.

She attended the former St. Patrick’s School and then graduated from Franklin High School in 1976. Diane attended Mercyhurst University in Erie and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree.

Diane worked for 30 years at Witherup Fabrication as Administrative Manager until her retirement in 2014.

A devout and faithful lifetime member of St. Patrick Church, Diane was very active in many church functions. She was a youth group leader, Secretary of Religious Education, financial secretary of Catholic Daughters of the Americas, church funeral team member, a member of the folk group, student and senior church choirs and served as a Eucharistic Minister. Diane devoted many hours to a special project at St. Patrick Cemetery.

Diane loved genealogy and spent countless hours researching the Witherup and Boreland family ancestry. She was a long time volunteer for the Barrow Civic Theatre and was Past President of the Franklin Jr. Women’s club.

Surviving is a brother Kevin Witherup and his wife Marge of Oil City, a nephew, Michael McFadden and his wife Cindy, a niece, Lauren Carrier and her husband Ben and their daughter, Quinn; numerous cousins and a special group of friends.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park St. Franklin where family and friends are welcome from 4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. Tuesday.

A Parish Vigil service will be held on Tuesday at 3:30 P.M. in the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church, 949 Liberty St. Franklin on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. with Father James C. Campbell, Officiating.

Interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to either St. Patrick Church, Barrow Civic Theatre, Franklin Library or the Venango County Humane Society.
