Dorothy M. White

Dorothy M. White, 94, of Franklin, passed away at 4:00 A.M. on October 22, 2018 at The Caring Place in Franklin where she has resided for nearly the last 12 years.

Born in Oil City on January 7, 1924 she was the daughter of the late Frank and Clara Stevenson Sampsell.

Dorothy started working at the former Butiste Restaurant in Oil City and then went on to work at the former Oil City Glass Plant prior to her marriage. After marriage she worked at Polk Center in the Dietary Department and the former Venango Manor as a Nurses' Aid.
She has spent nearly the last 12 years residing in The Caring Place suffering from dementia. Prior to her illness, Dorothy's greatest joy in her life, was her family. She also enjoyed walking and taking bus trips to various locations. Dorothy was also an animal lover.

She was well known at The Caring Place for her singing and yodeling.

Dorothy was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church.

On December 19, 1946 she married Clair M. "Jack" White and he preceded her in death on January 26, 1993.

Surviving are three daughters; Suzanne White of Seneca, Bonnie Baker (Rick) of Cochranton, and Lisa White of Franklin; five grandchildren, William Struthers, Beau White, Joseph Struthers, Stacy Parker and Brent Baker; numerous great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Lois Sampsell.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Jack E. White, an infant granddaughter; eight siblings, Lloyd (Nina) Sampsell, Robert (Sybil) Sampsell, Archie Sampsell, Chuck Sampsell, Evelyn Lytle (Bill), Marian Carrier (Taz), Ann Hartzell (Harry) and Betty Umstead (Bud).

There will be no visitation or service.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff - Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park St. Franklin.

Interment will be made at Lupher Chapel Cemetery.
