Gary L. Cox, 79, of Franklin, passed away at UPMC Northwest on Thursday, July 30, 2026.

Born in San Angelo, TX on October 7, 1946, he was the son of the late Edward and Hallie Vallandingham Cox. 

Gary proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

He worked for 37 years as a welder at the former Joy Manufacturing until his retirement in 2010. 

Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, guns and always had a good joke ready to tell. 

On October 8, 1998, he married the former Tammy Hoover and she survives. Also surviving is his son Travis Cox and his wife Mandy of OH; a sister, Marsha Smith and her husband Ronnie of San Angelo, TX; a sister-in-law, Terri Hoover of Franklin; a brother-in-law, Tom Hoover and his wife Lisa of Harrisville and an "adopted son" Steve Bremmerkamp and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Logan Cox and his brother, Alan Cox.

At Gary's request there will be no visitation or services. He will be laid to rest at Franklin Cemetery.
