Obituary

Jack DeWayne Weber, 81, of Dempseytown, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on December 16, 2025.

He was born to the late Marie Crisman and Robert John Weber on December 4, 1944 in Alliance, OH. His adoptive parents, John and Faye Kaltenbaugh, took care of him most of his childhood. He always had a close relationship with both his Weber and Kaltenbaugh families.

Jack was a 1962 graduate of Oil City High School. In 1965, he enlisted in the Army National Guard in Oil City and proudly served until 1971.

After his time in the National Guard, he worked for 42 years as foreman for Hegedus Aluminum. He was their first employee. Jack later moved on to work for Franklin Bronze, where he retired after 11 years. After his formal retirement, he went back to Franklin Bronze to work part time until the COVID-19 pandemic.

On October 17, 1970, Jack married the former Cynthia E. Speer. They shared 55 years together.

In his earlier years, he golfed with Dave Zacherl, John Hegedus, Will Bickel, and Bill Exley. He was proud to get a hole-in-one at Cross Creek Resort.

When Jack's sons were young, he was Cub Master of Pack 10 and Scout Master of Troup 10 out of Dempseytown. He was a Sunday School teacher for many years for Oakland United Methodist Church. Jack also served his community as a township auditor for numerous years.

He continued the family tradition of having a yearly picnic for his large group of family and friends. This tradition became a family reunion for generations to enjoy.

Jack's favorite sports team was any team that played against a Pittsburgh team. He was known as the biggest anti-fan of the Pirates and Steelers.

Jack was a farmer at heart. His family lovingly remarked that he loved to play in the dirt, always planting vegetables and working in his fields. He worked his family's farm stand as a young boy for many years at the Franklin farm market.

Along with his wife, Jack is survived by his children, Chris Weber and his wife Terri, of Dempseytown, and Jason Weber and his husband Bruce Hyde, of Pittsburgh. Additionally surviving is his cherished granddaughter, Brianna Weber, of Dempseytown, and numerous loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Surviving brothers and sisters include; Linda Benson, Ed (Shirley) Weber, Terry (Carrie) Weber, Beth (Jim) Seyler, Denny (Vickie) Weber, and Debbie Weber.

Jack was preceded in death by his biological and adoptive parents, as well as six siblings; infant sister Phyllis Weber, Bob Weber, David Weber, Walter Weber, Paula Weaver, and Cindy Benson.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. 312 West Park St., Franklin.

Friends and family will be welcome on Saturday, December 27th for a time of gathering from 1:00-3:00 P.M. at Oakland United Methodist Church 1431 State Route 428 Oil City, PA 16301.

A memorial service will take place immediately after in the sanctuary with Rev. Bob Klingler and Rev. Richard Roberts co-officiating.
