James M. "Buz" Reynolds, 84, of Franklin, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Franklin on April 10, 1941, he was the son of the late James Frank and Armetha Louise Boyd Reynolds. He was a graduate of Lakeview High School.
James married the love of his life, Florence Elizabeth "Betty" Shoup, on October 27, 1958. Together, they built nearly 67 years of memories, laughter, and unwavering partnership. Betty survives him.
Buz answered the call to serve his country with honor in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class (SFC) and serving two tours of duty during the Vietnam War. He was a proud recipient of the Bronze Star for his distinguished service and bravery, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (4 Campaigns), Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm. His service was a source of deep pride, and he carried his dedication to duty and country throughout his life
Above all else, James was a devoted family man who never hesitated to spend quality time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He cherished every moment shared- whether that was spending the 1:1 time together, gathering around the table, attending family celebrations, or simply sharing stories and laughter. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the family he loved so fiercely.
James will be dearly missed by his wife, Betty, and their children: Teresa Reynolds McCleary (Rick) of Franklin, PA, Angel Reynolds McCuen (Andrew) of Savannah, GA, Timothy Reynolds (Amy) of Easley, SC, Michelle Reynolds Olsen (Richard Ruditis) of Franklin, PA and his special daughter, Wendy Hoover of Franklin, PA.
He was a proud grandfather of nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Buz was preceded in death by his siblings: Gloria Nuhfer, Mary Hoover, Judy Rinker, Rickard Reynolds, Robert Reynolds, Peggy Sue Reynolds, and Faith Gregory.
Also surviving are siblings Kerry Reynolds (Nancy), Keith Reynolds (Dawn), Laura Lou Rinker (Carl), Donny (Pete) Reynolds.
James was also blessed with a loving extended family, including in-laws: Ronald Shoup (Judy), Larry Shoup (Candy), Shirley Burke (Samuel, deceased), and Thomas Shoup (Carrie).
In addition to his family, James enjoyed music and was especially talented on the steel guitar. He loved traveling in his motor home and restoring classic cars- pursuits that brought him joy and connected him with friends and community.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 312 West Park Street, Franklin.
Military Honors will be rendered by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard at the Venango County Vietnam Veterans Honor Roll on Saturday, June 7 at 4 P.M. in Bandstand Park, Franklin.
Memorial donations may be made to Tunnel to Towers.
James's life was a testament to love, family, and service- values that will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.
