John Stanley

John William Stanley, 68, of Rocky Grove, passed away suddenly on Monday, July 10, 2023 at UPMC Hamot in Erie.

Born in Franklin on April 3, 1955, he was the son of the late Thomas E. Stanley and Freda Mae Beers Scarem.

He was a 1973 graduate of Cranberry High School.

John was a longtime volunteer firefighter in North East, PA.

He loved being papa and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. John was a kind and gentle man who was always happy.

John worked for a number of years at Eureka Electric in North East.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army.

On August 21, 2007, he married the former Karen Dotterer and she survives. John was a loving husband and will be greatly missed.

Surviving are three step-children, Billy Ritchey and his wife Chanda of Nickelville, Amanda Stevenson and her husband Clint of Tompkinsville, KY, Michael Ritchey and his wife Laura of Knox; seven grandchildren, C.J., Breanna, Haylee, Elista, Joslyn, Colten and Jeffrey; Two siblings, Pat Lawson and her husband Raymond of Ohio and Rita Beatty of Franklin and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Rose Ace and Mary Exley and two brothers, Robert Lee Stanley Sr. And Thomas E. Stanley.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park St. Franklin, PA 16323 where family and friends are welcome from 10:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. Friday.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with Jeneen Gahr, CARE Ministry Director at Atlantic Avenue Church, officiating. John’s brother-in-law, Raymond Lawson will also be sharing memories of John.

Interment will follow at Big Bend Cemetery near Emlenton.
