Joyce Elaine (Amon) Bower, loving wife, mother, sister and friend was welcomed into her Heavenly Father's arms on November 26, 2025 after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

Joyce was born June 4, 1967 in Franklin, PA to Danny and Avis Amon; who preceded her in death. 

On June 20, 1987 she married the true love of her life, Curtis Wesley Bower of Rocky Grove. Together, they would continue to make Franklin their home and welcome their sons Michael (Caia) and Matthew. 

Joyce was a 1985 graduate of Franklin High School. She continued her education at Geneva College where she earned an associate degree in medical secretary studies in 1987. Joyce went on to earn another associate degree as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant from Clarion University in 2001. Joyce found her professional calling in occupational therapy and worked for Marden Companies at The Caring Place for 15 years and finished her career at UPMC Northwest in 2021. She was amazing at her job and truly cared for her patients with respect and compassion.

There are so many things Joyce will be remembered for, but first and foremost, Joyce was an amazing mom to her sons whom she loved beyond measure. Encouraging and supporting them in their activities of band, cross country, youth group, Boy Scouts and art was what brought her joy. 

Joyce loved music and was a member of her high school choir, Madrigal Singers, musicals, concert and marching bands. As an adult, she continued her passion by singing with Venango Chorus and her church choir at First Presbyterian Church in Franklin where she was a member and faithful servant for her entire life. During her formative years, Joyce was a member of her church youth group, worked many summers at Seneca Hills Bible camp and was involved with her local 4H club.

Joyce's passing leaves a hole in so many hearts. In addition to her husband and sons, she will be deeply missed by her brother Retired Lt. Col. Douglas L. Amon (Sara) of Springfield, VA and sister Mary Ann Brunton (Dan) of Slippery Rock, PA. Joyce was the most amazing and sweetest aunt ever to Emily and Rachel Amon of Springfield, VA; Tucker and Molly Brunton of Slippery Rock, PA; Stephanie Swope (Mike) of Franklin; Andrew Karns of Summerville, SC; Nathan Stellman (Mimi) of Prosper, TX; Keith Stellman (Kelley) of Covington, GA and Jessica McCarthy of Butler, PA who were blessed to know, love and be loved by her.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all staff members of The Collins House in Franklin where Joyce was cared for with grace and dignity during her final days. 

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. 312 W Park St., Franklin where friends and family will be welcomed from 2:00-4:00 P.M. & 6:00-8:00 P.M. Sunday.

A memorial service will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday at First Presbyterian Church of Franklin 1250 Elk St., Franklin with Rev. Barry Jenkins, officiating.
