Obituary

Kenneth "Ken" D. Snyder, 76, of Franklin, passed away early Friday morning, March 20, 2026 at The Caring Place, after a very brief and courageous battle with leukemia. 

Born in Franklin on May 10, 1949, he was the son of Wallace D. "Mike" Snyder and Mary Louise Nalepa Snyder.

Ken's family moved from Franklin to Forth Worth, Texas in 1953. Ken graduated from Nolan High School in Fort Worth. He then went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in political science, graduating from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in 1971. Ken went on to a career in computer analysis, working for Georgetown University, The College Board, and ultimately for New York University, retiring from there in 2011.

Ken kept a keen interest in history and politics, being extremely well read in both. He was a master of crossword puzzles, working many from numerous newspapers on a daily basis. He was also a collector of Apple products, starting in the 1980s.

He is survived by his son, Kenneth Snyder of Boulder, CO, two siblings, Dee A (Tom) McLaughlin of Oil City and Michael D. Snyder of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and MaryBeth Murphy, to whom he was married until 2009. Also, his good friends Steve and Marcia Crawford, and Dan Weiland.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Mark Snyder.

The family wishes to extend deepest gratitude to the staff at The Caring Place 2nd Floor, a special thank you to Susan, JoJo, Gabby and many others who touched Ken's life there. A very special thank you to Lynnie, Crystal, and the staff at Purple Iris for his time in their care. He also met kindness and comfort at Sugarcreek Station in his years there. Also, a special thank you to Aseracare Hospice for their kindness at the end. 

There will be no visitation and services will be private.
