Leonard E. "Frenchie" Avoy, 79, of Franklin, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2024 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.
Born to the late Lewis E. and Pauline G. Chretien Avoy, Frenchie was born on March 19, 1945 in Biddeford Maine.
After earning his GED, Frenchie served in the United States Navy for three years where he was proudly stationed on the U.S.S Intrepid during Vietnam.
During his free time, Frenchie enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going to car shows. He was an active member of various local social clubs.
Frenchie and his wife Cathy raised their two children together in Franklin. During his later years, he and Cathy continued to be close in friendship and took care of each other until the end of his life.
Surviving Frenchie are his two daughters, Lori Hudock and her husband Allan of Cochranton, and Beth Avoy and her wife Jill Sanford of Franklin. Also surviving are his grandchildren; Shawn C. Avoy, Bethany D. Rice, Ashley L. Hall, Isabel L. Sanford Avoy, all of Franklin, and Devin A. Green of Venus. Great grandchildren; Chloe, Liam, Neoma, Mataya, and Sherry. Two sisters, Cecilia and Jane, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Frenchie was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Patricia Gwin.
Arrangements entrusted to Huff Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. 312 West Park St. Franklin where family and friends will be welcome for visitation from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Thursday.
Military Honors will be rendered by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard at 7:00 P.M. Thursday in the funeral home chapel.
