Linda L. Hughes

Franklin and St. Cloud, FL.

Linda L. Burchfield Hughes, 89, of Franklin, and St. Cloud, FL, passed away on November 12, 2023 at her home in Florida. 

A daughter of Clarence V. and Helen Williams Burchfield, she was born in Pittsburgh, PA on December 16, 1933. She was a 1951 graduate of Rocky Grove High School.

On June 19, 1953 she married Gordon L. Hughes who preceded her in death on March 4, 1997.

She had many jobs in her lifetime, but she was most proud of her employment with the Venango County Extension office from 1981 to 1994.  She returned to work with the Venango County Fair from 2007 to 2013. Finally retiring at that time.

For many years she devoted her time and talents as a Girl Scout Leader, and 4-H Dazzlers Leader. She was a member of the 4-H Fairboard and 4-H Development Committee, and a group leader of "The Happy Wander'ers Traveling Group. 

She enjoyed traveling with her family on many adventures, also enjoyed spending time with friends playing cards, laughing it up, and getting out and about.  

Surviving are two loving children and their spouses, 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 1 adopted daughter:  Tori and Shawn Wooldridge of St Cloud, FL, Tim and Linda Sue Hughes of Yorktown, VA, and Mindy Graham of Franklin, PA.

Also survived by a “younger”  sister Garnet Hovis of Franklin; three nieces, Mrs. Darrell (Gina) King, of Rutledge, TN., April Zeigler, of Franklin, and Mrs. Steven (Dawn) Wheeling, of Franklin, many great nieces and nephews, along with many other loving relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by: William Joseph Hughes (infant son), and her companion of 18 years - Don Fox.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park St. Franklin. 

There will be no visitation. 

A memorial luncheon will be held at Grace Church of Rocky Grove at 1:00 PM on November 18, 2023 for family and friends.  Come reminisce.

She will be laid to rest in Brandon Cemetery.
