Obituary

Lucille M. Baker, 85, of Franklin, passed away at 10:51 A.M. on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca. 

Born in Franklin on July 9, 1941, she was the daughter of the late John and Nellie Carter Braden. 

Lucille was a 1959 graduate of Rocky Grove High School. She worked many years at Valley Grove School District as a Custodian. 

She was a member of Worden Chapel Church and Congress Hill Church of God, where she participated in the church quilting club. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Civil War. She enjoyed making period costumes and participating in reenactments at Gettysburg. She loved crocheting and made many baby blankets over the years.

Lucille was an avid fan of bluegrass and country music, especially Elvis Presley and Charley Pride, and enjoyed seeing many country music artists in concert. She also had the opportunity to visit Ireland and quickly fell in love with the country. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are two children, Penny Shoup and her husband Kevin of Polk, Michele Steim and her husband Randy of Jackson Center; two sisters, Hazel Tenney of Sugar Creek an Lotti "Dani" Beach of Cooperstown; five grandchildren, Levi Shoup (Katie) and Megan (Brandan) Faller; Matthew Dangrow, Patrick Dangrow (Laurel), Allyssa Dangrow; 18 great-grandchildren with one more on the way and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two former husbands and her granddaughter Mikala Marie Dangrow. 

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff - Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park St. Franklin where family and friends are welcome from 2:00 - 4:00 P.M. on Monday, August 31, 2026.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 P.M. Monday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Steve Flugga, Pastor of Congress Hill Church of God, officiating. 

She will be laid to rest at Morrison Run Cemetery.
