Martin T. “Marty” Rusiewicz, 69, of Amarillo, TX, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2026 at a hospital in Dallas, TX after a brief illness.
Marty was born in Franklin to Gloria “Betty” McElroy and Ted Rusiewicz.
He graduated from Franklin High School in 1975.
Marty enjoyed music and dancing. In his younger days he was a marvel on the dance floor. He was always happy, talkative, and seldom had anything bad to say.
He also enjoyed refurbishing furniture. He owned his own shop in Amarillo, selling what he found after bringing it back to life.
Marty had an eye for both interior and exterior decorating, which afforded him the opportunity to travel to clients throughout the country and overseas.
Marty is survived by a sister, Lorraine Assalone, and her children; Mike (Lorie) Knox, Jill Anglolieri and her significant other George, and Jim (Jana) Knox. A brother, Dennis Rusiewicz (Sue) and their children; Lisa (Travis) Butcher, and Jennifer (Rick) Halligan. Several great nieces and nephews are also left to remember Marty.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a nephew, Marc Knox.
In accordance with Marty’s wishes, there will be no funeral services.
Marty was an advocate for organ donation. His request was for others to consider choosing the gift of life by choosing to be an organ donor. You never know whose life you may touch through the gift of donation.
