Mary Margaret "Marge" Astorino

October 2, 1944 — July 7, 2025

McKeesport, PA

Mary Margaret ‘Marge” Astorino, 80, of Franklin, passed away at her residence surrounded by her family on Monday July 7, 2025.

She was born in McKeesport on October 2, 1944, and received her high school diploma from St. Peter’s High School in McKeesport and an associate’s degree from Robert Morris Junior College, now Robert Morris University. She was employed as a secretary for several corporations in Pittsburgh, and eventually for Carlow College.

She was most proud of being a wife and mother and found much joy in attending church as a family, hosting large and small family gatherings and holidays, and traveling—especially to the beach. Her spare time as a younger adult were spent swimming, skating, dancing, golfing, bowling, camping at Wolf’s Den, teaching religious education, and baking. Her later interests were many and varied but included quality time with her “grands”, music, movies, puzzles and games, reading, and following Pittsburgh sports teams. Prayer was an integral part of her life and was the foundation for her membership in Saint Patrick Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Here she enjoyed volunteering on the funeral lunch committee. Her spiritual legacy will live on through the many people she helped on the journey of life.

She was married to the love of her life, John Anthony Astorino on May 10,1968, and he survives.

Also surviving are her children Holly (John) Ghering, Jennifer (Stephen) Galey, Susan Astorino, and Joseph (Anthony) Astorino Nicola. Her grandchildren survive as well: Kelsey (Jason) Stiglitz, Carly Ghering, Julia (Wyatt) Wadding, Isaak Ghering, Samuel Ghering, Joshua Ghering, Rachel Ghering, Skye Galey, August Galey, Colton Byers, Hayley Byers, and Katabella Byers. Marge’s surviving siblings are Judi Bradley and Patti Labant.

She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Leroy Stuchell and Julia Schrenker Stuchell—as well as her beloved brother Thomas Stuchell.
