Matthew D. "FAJ" Drain, 54, of Franklin, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.

He was born in Narbeth, PA on January 25, 1972 and was the son of James and Yvonne Drain.

Matt graduated from Lower Merion High School. He attended the University of Pittsburgh for Engineering and graduated from Delaware Community College.

Matt formerly worked at Graham Machine and was currently working at Komatsu as a Machinist. He was a reliable, consistent and hard working man.

Matt enjoyed cars, working, spending time with friends and family, and building with Legos. He was authentic, kind, fun-loving, and selfless, although those who knew him best would also describe him as stubborn. He was perhaps the quietest people person you could ever meet and always enjoyed saying hello. A simple and mindful man, Matt appreciated the little things in life and was always willing to put the needs of others before his own.

Above all, Matt loved his six grandchildren, each of whom meant the world to him. He made sure they always had plenty of toys and would happily sit with them for hours, doing whatever they wanted to do. He treasured every moment he spent with them, and he meant just as much to each of them. Matt truly lived his life for others, especially his family.

He is survived by his longtime girlfriend, Billie Jo Ball and their son Devin Ball; two sons, Isaac Drain and his partner Lily and Noah Drain and his partner Alyssa; six grandchildren, Mason Renwick, Nova Drain, Ivy Drain, Zyhier Drain, Ellie Drain, Emmitt Drain; five siblings, Brian, Kirsten, Ian, Erin and Mary.

He is additionally survived by his best friends who were like family, Dalton Boyles, Ducky, Stephen Leccia and Nova Drain. 

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park St., Franklin, where family and friends are welcome from 1:00 - 3:00 & 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 16, 2026 in the funeral home chapel.

Interment will follow at Franklin Cemetery.
