Michael H. Eakin

Michael H. Eakin, 68, of Franklin, passed away at his residence surrounded by his family early Tuesday morning, April 25, 2023.

Born in Franklin on January 19, 1955 he was the son of Barb Wetherbee Eakin and the late Harry Eakin.

He was a 1972 graduate of Franklin High School. Mike earned a basketball scholarship to Pitt-Titusville. 

Mike was a legendary deer hunter and enjoyed carpentry and woodworking. He loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and was a loyal fan of the Pittsburgh sports teams. 

Mike was a man of strong faith. 

Mike loved his Jack Russell Terrier, Winchester.  

He retired from GE as a machinist after 20 years of service.

On October 10, 2014, he married the former Georgia Keith and she survives. 

In addition to his wife Georgia and mother, Barb he is survived by four children, Mike Eakin and his significant other Tonya Bonifay, Jeromy Eakin and his significant other Jackie Day, Brian Eakin and his wife Rebekah and Travis Eakin and his wife Samantha; four step-children, Matt Keith and his wife Bonnie, Nathan Keith and wife Justine, Josh Keith and his wife Kristen and Natalie Miller and her husband KC; seventeen grandchildren, Drake Eakin, Devin Eakin, Hailey Eakin, Noah Eakin,  Gavin Eakin, Brea Eakin, Dalton Eakin, Wade Eakin, Athena Eakin, Quinlinn Keith, Hayden Keith, Preston Keith, Braylin Keith, Wren Keith, Carson Keith, Lincoln Miller and Luka Miller and two great-grandchildren, Oliver and Silas Eakin.

Additionally surviving are four siblings, Dick Eakin and his wife Deb, Deb Adamchik and her husband Ron, Patricia Deibert and her husband Scott and Doug Eakin and his wife Sandy.

He was preceded in death by his father. 

There will be no visitation. 

A private service will be held for family and close friends.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park St. Franklin.

Interment will be made at Millcreek Cemetery in Utica.

Memorial donations may be made in Mike’s name to any local youth sports league.
