Michael Eugene Hoover, 73, of Franklin passed away on March 29, 2024 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.
Born on August 17, 1950 in Franklin, Mike was the son of the late Harold L. Hoover and Rachel I. (Cummings) Hoover.
Mike was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, where he also worked many years as a custodian.
Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with family and friends, and playing cards.
At a very young age, Mike suffered a brain trauma that left him partially disabled, but that never slowed his memory of family names and family events, nor limited his laughter and smile to warm a room. His presence was a blessing.
The family would like to thank The Caring Place for their support and care of Michael where he has been a resident since 2006, the majority of the time in personal care and most recently in skilled nursing. The family also thanks the many healthcare professionals who cared for Michael over the years.
Michael is survived by his brother, Jeffrey J. Hoover and wife Denise, a niece, Stephanie L. Hoover, and nephew Shawn M. Hoover and wife Jennifer. In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by a younger brother, James Hoover.
No public visitation will be held.
Funeral services for Michael will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church, 1145 Buffalo Street, Franklin, PA on Monday April 1, 2024 at 11:00 am with Father Shawn Clerkin, officiating.
Michael will be laid to rest in the Franklin Cemetery next to his parents and brother.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park St. Franklin.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to The Caring Place at 103 North 13 th Street, Franklin, PA 16323.
