Nancy Nelson

Nancy Nelson 75, of Pittsburgh formerly of Polk Center passed away peacefully on September 3, 2017 at UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh.

She was born in Ridgway, PA. on January 14, 1942. She is the daughter of the late George and Frances Gulnac Nelson. She has a sister Alfriede Drago of Derby, New York.

Nancy spent the majority of her life at Polk State Center in Franklin, PA. She will be remembered for her radiant smile and her determination to live her life on her terms. Nancy made many friends while at Polk Center. Nancy moved to Pittsburgh, PA., in 2016. She resided with a housemate in a community based home with Weiblinger's Residential Care.

Throughout her life, Nancy was surrounded by those who cared and supported her. She enjoyed working at both Polk State Center and later, Citizen Care, Inc.. Nancy lived her life to the fullest and with quite dignity. Her strength and her perseverance of independence defined her later life. Nancy was, and will always be an inspiration to all her knew and loved her.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 W. Park St. Franklin from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. Tuesday.

Funeral services will follow at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home with the Polk Chaplaincy Department, officiating.

Interment will follow at Oakmont Cemetery in Ridgeway, PA.
