Patricia L. Hayes

Patricia Lee "Patty" Hayes, 87, of Rocky Grove, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025 with her family by her side.

The daughter of the late Herbert and Isabell McClelland Tarr, Patty was born on December 29, 1937 at home in Nicklin. She was one of ten children.

Patty was a graduate of Franklin High School and soon after began training in healthcare.

She worked in healthcare for most of her life. Patty was employed at Mattapan State Hospital, Boston State Hospital, several nursing homes, and home health agencies during her career. Patty loved helping people and will be remembered by her family as a dedicated worker for all of the hard work she put into her career.

Patty married her husband, the late William B. Hayes, in April of 1975. They shared nearly 30 years together.

She loved flowers, knitting, crocheting, making ceramics and her special dog, Zeus. One of her favorite pastimes was tending to her gardens. Her children fondly remember her planting in her vegetable garden and her beautiful rose bushes.

Patty was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend. Her children were her joy and she was always there for them when they needed her most.

Surviving Patty are her children, daughter Jacqueline L. Rae and her husband Stephan A. of Oil City, daughter Roxlyn S. Penker and her husband Neil J. of Rocky Grove, son Donald A. Morford, Jr. and Minerva of Rocky Grove, and daughter Andrea Traverna and her husband Richard of MA. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Danielle Bourque and her husband Nicholas, Sean Penker, Richard Ozarowski, Eric Traverna, Ryan Traverna, Sarah Morford, and Donald A. Morford III. Great grandchildren left to cherish Patty's memory are Jania, Nicholas, Summer, Amy, and many loved nieces and nephews.

Along with her husband and parents, Patty was preceded in death by nine siblings; Annie, Betty, Bob, Mike, Web, Joann, Floyd, and two infant siblings. Also preceding her in death are her special parents in-law, Rev. Eugene Morford and Olive Morford.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home 312 W. Park Street ,Franklin where visitation will take place from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Tuesday, June 24.

The funeral service will take place immediately after at 12:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dr. Darrell Greenawalt, officiating.

Interment will follow at Lupher Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hillman Cancer Center.
