Richard G. "Rick" Armburger, 69, of Cooperstown, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on Friday, July 17, 2026 at home.
Born in Meadville on August 12, 1956, Rick was the son of the late Lawrence and Florence (Tingley) Armburger.
He graduated from Rocky Grove High School in 1974. Rick proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he built a career as a skilled machinist, working at GE, and previously at Starlight and Franklin Steel.
Rick found his greatest happiness outdoors. Whether he was hunting in the woods or enjoying the excitement of a dirt track race from the grandstands, he embraced every opportunity to spend time doing what he loved. More than anything, however, his family was the center of his life. He rarely missed one of his grandchildren's sporting events, and he took tremendous pride in each of their accomplishments. His unwavering love, encouragement, and quiet presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.
On August 27, 2022, Rick married the former Deborah Cornelious, who survives him.
He is also survived by his children, Adam Armburger (Amanda), Ashleigh Phillips (Chad), and Tyler Watkins; his beloved grandchildren, Payton and Mileigh Phillips, Annabelle and Kayleigh Waters, and Sawyer and Aspen Armburger; his sister, Janet Boughner (Wes); his mother-in-law, Alice Cornelious; sister in-law, Cindy Armburger; many cherished nieces and nephews; his lifelong friends, Craig King, Tom Prichard, and Dave Holben; as well as other close family members and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his brothers, Clifford and Larry Armburger, and sister-in-law Marge Armburger.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 312 West Park Street, Franklin, where family and friends will be received from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday at Cooperstown Presbyterian Church, N Main St., Cooperstown with Pastor Diane Whitman officiating.
The V.E.T.S. Honor Guard will render military honors at the conclusion of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Rick's name to Cooperstown Presbyterian Church, PO Box 163, Cooperstown, PA 16317.
