Samuel F. Reichl Jr., 90, of Utica, passed away early morning on Monday, December 29, 2025 at The Caring Place in Franklin.
He was born in McKees Rocks on June 5, 1935, the son of the late Samuel F. Reichl Sr. and Vera Marencel Reichl.
Sam had a lifetime passion of golf which led him to purchase Sleepy Hollow Golf Course in 1985. The golf course was his life and he will always be remembered as the "Legend of Sleepy Hollow."
He enjoyed his many golf trips with golf buddies to Myrtle Beach and he got to experience the ultimate golfers dream trip to Pebble Beach.
On January 27, 1954 he married his best friend, Gertrude M. Hufnagel and she preceded him in death on January 8, 2013.
Surviving are two children, Shirley Antolik (Stephen) of Pittsburgh and Janet Henderson (Mike) of Franklin and a grandson, Albert (Chip) Abramovic.
Sam was a devoted father and grandfather and treasured friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Frederick and Robert and sister, Cecilia.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park St. Franklin where family and friends are welcome from 12:00 - 2:30 P.M. Saturday, January 3, 2026.
A Memorial Service will follow at 2:30 P.M. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Virginia Gadsby of the New Lebanon Community Church, officiating.
