Theodore "Ted" McElroy Jr.

Theodore "Ted" McElroy Jr., 66, of Franklin, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, April 24, 2026.

Ted was born in Franklin on July 17, 1959 and was the son of the late Theodore McElroy Sr. and Mary Ann Marshinke McElroy.

Ted enjoyed the simple things in life, especially fishing, spending time with his family, and working on cars. He was a very hard worker and known for being dependable, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. A quick learner, Ted could figure out just about anything and often turned to YouTube when he needed help. His grandsons were his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment with them.

Ted was currently employed at Liberty Electronics and had previously dedicated 20 years to Electralloy in Oil City. Over the years, he also worked at Witherup Fabrication in Kennerdell, KB Pizza in Franklin and Polk Center, building a reputation everywhere he went for his strong work ethic and willingness to help others.

He attended Atlantic Avenue United Brethren Church.

On June 28, 1997 he married the former Debra Hawke and she survives.

Also surviving is his daughter, Jasmine Eda Whitman of Oil City; two grandsons, Noah Lee Steetle of Franklin and Raymond Charles Mutzig of Franklin; three sisters, Debbie Craver (Steve) of Franklin, Bonnie Wood (late John) of Clintonville and Kathy Porter (Rick) of Franklin; niece, Angie Dunlap; two other nieces, Alicia Cook (Michael) and Brittany Kightlinger (Travis) who affectionally referred to him as "Uncle Bozo"; an aunt, Sue Cook (Bob) of Texas, several cousins and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Ted was preceded in death by parents; an infant son, Theodore McElroy III; an aunt, Alicia Drake; an uncle, Frank McElroy; two nephews, James Rhoades Jr. and Michael Wood and a brother-in-law, John Wood.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park St. Franklin where family and friends are welcome from 3:00 - 7:00 P.M. Tuesday.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at Atlantic Avenue United Brethren Church, 160 Atlantic Ave. Franklin with Pastor Brad Riddle, officiating.

Interment will follow at Franklin Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in honor of Ted.
