Thomas Andrew
Lux
Nov 13, 1941 — Oct 3, 2026
Seneca, PA
Today, October 3, 2026, Jesus opened His arms and called His child, Thomas "Tom/Tommy" Andrew Lux to come Home after 84 plus years on this earth.
He was born at home, the youngest of three children, on November 13, 1941, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Stephen Richard Lux and Gertrude "Trudy" Unger Lux Meyer.
On July 14, 1968, he was united in marriage to Joyce Steerman of Belington, WV.
At the age of 17, Tom enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served for four years. He then went on to realize his dream of opening his own retail business and ran this successfully with Joyce for many years. Tom was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and made sure it was known. He also enthusiastically cheered alongside his wife for her beloved WVU Mountaineers. Tom's other interests included tinkering with old cars, working outside with his plants, and making sure he was well dressed everywhere he went. (It was a major crisis if he happened to leave home without his comb.) He could never comprehend the saying, "Shop til you drop," because he never did drop! As one of his sons-in-law said, "The one thing I learned about Tom is that he likes to shop. He's very detailed when he shops. Don't take him to Costco!" His love of shopping was evident as Joyce saw her section of the closet diminishing in space. He was always meticulous about any project and would take it apart and start over as many times as necessary until it looked right in his opinion. Tom's quiet, but quick wit and joy in the simple things will be greatly missed.
At the age of 46, he came to know Jesus as His personal Savior. He always said, "Don't wait; make the decision while you're young because the older you get, the more difficult it is"
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters. Tracy (Andy) Kockler of Franklin, PA, and their sons, Noah and Drew; and Vicky (Scott) Brothers of Little Elm, Texas and their sons, Zachary "Zac" Black and Jack (Miranda) Brothers. He is also survived by his brother, Stephen Lux, and his sister, Susan Dean, both of Pittsburgh as well as his nieces, Cheryl Rieger, Karen Dean and Karla Martinelli and nephew, Rick Lux and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Raymond Meyer, sister-in-law, Dolores "Dolly" Lux and granddaughter, Reagan Brothers,
We could never begin to thank everyone who has been with us during the journey including, but absolutely not limited to, the entire staff at Hillman Cancer Center, UPMC Northwest Hospital, UPMC Northwest Primary Care ...from those at reception to the medical teams, all so caring, kind and compassionate. Also, the most wonderful, supportive, encouraging, compassionate people at VNA Hospice of Venango County.
We are so appreciative of the many, mighty prayer warriors (some we know; some we do not) who have been faithful to bring us continually to the Throne of our great God who has and will sustain us today, and in the days to come. Also, our gratitude to our church family at AAUB Church in Franklin, Pastor Brad Riddle and Pastor Jason Peterson.
Our hearts are heavy and the temporary separation is difficult for those of us still here, but we have assurance that those who believe and put their faith and trust in our Savior, Jesus Christ will all be reunited with Tom one day.
Tom's request for cremation will be honored.
There will be a private family Celebration of Life at a later date.
Any donations may be made to AAUB Church, 160 Atlantic Ave., Franklin, PA 16323.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park St., Franklin.
