Timothy J. Lyons, 66, of Franklin, passed away at his residence on Sunday, June 7, 2026 after a brief illness.
Born in Franklin on February 3, 1960, he was a son of the late John and Ruth McVay Lyons.
He was a 1978 graduate of Franklin High School. Tim earned his Bachelor of Science in Education with a professional certificate in Electronic Technologies.
Tim dedicated more than 20 years of his career to educating future generations as an Electronics Instructor at the Venango Technology Center. Prior to teaching, he worked in the electronics field at JM and Continental Can, where he developed the knowledge and experience that he would later share with his students. Tim took great pride in teaching and enjoyed helping others learn and succeed. He looked forward each year to working alongside his students to set up the electrical systems for Applefest and was instrumental in the development and success of the area's robotics program.
Outside of his career, Tim enjoyed spending time on the golf course, a hobby that became one of his greatest passions. Often times Tim could be found in the high grass showing off the best foot wedge in the game or miraculously "finding" his ball, every time. In his younger years, he also enjoyed fishing, archery, and hunting. Tim would have given you the shirt off of his back, but he also would be the one who always mysteriously "forgot his wallet". Above all else, Tim cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of the Franklin Elks Lodge #110 and will be remembered for his dedication to education, his strong work ethic, and the positive impact he had on the many students, friends, and family members whose lives he touched.
Tim is survived by his wife Susi Lyons, whom he married on June 14, 2003; two children, Jeff Lyons (Rachel) of Franklin and Melissa Lyons Greenlee of Franklin; two stepchildren, Shari Ward of Orlando, FL and Jamie Ferringer (Daniel) of Franklin; twelve grandchildren, Jack, Carter, Raelynn, Wesley, Andi, Emerson, Everett, Arlen, Crew, Dawson, Reese and Carly; two brothers; Sam Lyons (Jennifer) of Franklin and Joe Lyons (Kim) of Franklin and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park St. Franklin where family and friends are welcome from 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. Saturday, June 13th.
