William G. Heller

William G. Heller Jr., 68, of Franklin died at 3:20 p.m. Monday, December 22, 2014 at Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh.

A son of William G. and Cecile Hawke Heller, he was born in Franklin on September 6, 1946. Bill was a graduate of Franklin High School; he then attended a one year computer program in Pittsburgh. He also received his B.S. from Slippery Rock and an advanced paralegal Certificate form Ohio University.

He was employed as Personnel Security Specialist for the Office of Personnel Management in Boyers. Well respected by his co-workers throughout the United States, he was a finalist for the Unsung Hero Award in 2011. He retired in October 2013 after 26 years of service.

Bill was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. He had served as a firefighter for the City of Franklin and served on City Council for 8 years representing the 3rd Ward. His grandsons were his pride and joy. He enjoyed the muscle cars of the 1960s.

On September 10, 1971 he married the former Vicki Bell, she survives along with a daughter Carrie M. Jasper and her husband Scott of Hartford, ME; two grandsons Will and Christopher, a "daughter" Calla Perrine and her son Brody, 3 sisters Mary Lou Carson, Amy Jo Gaertner and her husband Gilbert and Robin Phipps, a brother Mark Heller, and a uncle Bob Heller. Also surviving are his mother-in-law Helen K. Bell, brother-in-law Robert Bell, sister-in-law Virginia Hernan and her husband Terry, and nieces and nephews, Rob Hernan, Heather Wessell, Jamie Carson, Joe Carson, Melissa Brand, Jessica Phipps, Kara Willy, Matthew Gaertner, Katie Kostendt, Mark Heller Jr., Tori Heller, Lori Heller and Mark Heller III.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters Billie Marie and Billie Jo Heller, his father-in-law Robert Bell Sr.and two brothers-in-law Mike Phipps and Roy Carson.

Friends will be received in the Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 312 W. Park St. from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday. Funeral Services will be held in Christ United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Sam Wagner, associate pastor, officiating.
