William R. Mook

William R. Mook, 62, of Franklin died Friday March 11, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.

A son of the late Ralph E. and Marjorie B. Fleming Mook, he was born in Franklin on August 8, 1953.

Bill was a 1971 graduate of Franklin High School and received his degree from Slippery Rock College.

He began his teaching career as a part time elementary physical education teacher in the Franklin Area School district. He taught Physical Education, Health and Driver's Education at Franklin until his retirement in 2009. Bill also had coached boys and girls track, golf, and the girls' basketball team. In his 20 years of coaching the girls basketball team he compiled a 357-169 record with 12 TCAC titles, 3 D-10 titles and two Western Final trips. For 20 years he served as athletic director at Franklin. After his retirement he became the athletic director at Rocky Grove.

He was a member of Pennsylvania State Athletic Directors Association and served on the District 10 Athletic Committee.

A member of Franklin Elks Lodge #110, he was currently serving as Lodge Secretary.

Bill was an avid golfer, enjoyed camping, spending time with his family, and his faithful companion Jaxson.

On October 22, 1994 he married the former Peggy L. Gregory, who survives along with a son Nicholas T. Mook and a daughter Amy D. Mook. Also surviving are brothers and sisters in law; John & Kelly Gregory, Jeff & Teresa Gregory, Joe & Dawn Gregory, George & Kathy Gregory, Pam & Brad Ferko, and Patty & Fred Conner; nieces and nephews Ryan, Jason, Joel, Tyler and Olivia Gregory, Andrea, Brent, and Emily Ferko, Allison and Chris Connor, Jess & Ryan Rudegeair, and Jenna & Ben Sperry; and several cousins Joan & Mike Cassano, Jean Rankin and Brian & Carol Mook.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his father and mother- in- law John & Diane Gregory, brother-in-law Jerry Gregory, niece Julie Gregory and two cousins Rita Porter and Jim Fleming.

Friends will be received in the Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 312 W. Park St. from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. Jeff Little, pastor of the First United Methodist Church officiating.

Interment will follow in Franklin Cemetery.
