If ever two were one, then surely we.
If ever man were loved by wife, then thee;
Thy love is such I can no way repay;
The heavens reward thee manifold, I pray.
Then while we live, in love let's so persever,
That when we live no more, we may live ever.
William Terence "Terry" Renwick's time with us ended on Friday, March 3, 2017 with Linda, the love of his life by his side. They were passionately devoted to each and their 42 year marriage was and will continue to be a role model for their 5 children and many grandchildren.
Terry was born on New Year's Day 1941 to William and Jane Griffith Renwick in Sligo, Pennsylvania. He was the eldest of 7 children and was preceded in death by two sisters; infant Judy, and Kathy Breniman as well as his parents.
He ran track in high school and after graduating Clarion High School in 1958, Terry enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He received multiple awards and decorations including the Combat Action Ribbon, Rifle Marksman Badge, and the Vietnam Service Medal after serving two tours in Vietnam. Terry continued his devotion to his country and fellow service members by selflessly volunteering for Drill Instructor school, Parris Island, South Carolina, where he would shape the future Marine Corps soldiers. Terry separated from the service in 1968, after 10 years, to pursue a career as a police officer in Royal Oak Michigan. In 1984, Terry's love for country and sense of duty drew him back to Military Service where he continued as an Army National Guard Retention (NCO) Non Commissioned Officer and also a Recruiter. Terry officially retired from the military in 1996 in the rank of Sergeant First Class (E-7) after bravely serving his country for 22 years. He then retired in 2007 from the Pennsylvania Dept of Welfare.
Terry was an adoring husband, father and grandfather and nothing made him happier than seeing all of his children and grandchildren together. No one loved a family reunion more than Terry! He could always be found helming the grill and enjoying the festivities or sitting around the campfire sharing stories and eating s'mores.
Terry had a cheery and easy going nature and was known for his eye- twinkling smile. He loved to drive with the window down and wave to his neighbors and he loved to whistle! He found the best in people and was always the first to volunteer to help a friend or anyone in need. He was a founding member of the Oil Region Soccer Association and he and Linda volunteered at their children's activities making lifelong friendships.
Terry loved the sun and the beach (and hated Pennsylvania winters) so he and Linda became Florida snowbirds in 2009. They spent their time in Ocala tinkering in the yard, antiquing, going to auctions and introducing their many new friends to his favorite game, Pay Me. The warmer Pennsylvania weather brought them home to their large property in Franklin though they spent most of their time visiting children and friends.
Terry faced many physical battles in the last decade but he always maintained his cheerful and friendly personality. He was a favorite among the doctors and nurses who cared for him throughout the years. He beat the odds more than once with Linda by his side. He had a gentle soul but the heart of a lion.
He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Linda Glowacki Renwick of Franklin, his children; Angela Anderson and her husband Scott of Easton PA, Leah Fabrizio and her husband Joseph of Bemus Point, NY, Jerry Henwood of Polk, PA, Jennifer Portzline and her husband John of Mount Pleasant Mills, PA, and Adam Renwick of Washington D.C. Also survived by grandchildren; Scott, Duncan, Dominick, Nicholas, Jerry, Graham, Wyatt, Sawyer, Alexis and Harper as well as 2 sisters, Evelyn and Vera and 2 brothers, John and Kevin. He will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews and cousins.
